Rays Extend Longoria Through 2023

Baseball’s offseason got itself back in gear Monday as the Rays made headlines by signing superstar Evan Longoria to a huge nine-year deal worth $100 million, with an additional club option included for 2023.

Longo will now be making roughly $17.6 million per year, which is really worth the money for Tampa considering how valuable he is to the team. Most can agree that the Rays pulled off another bargain by coming to terms for a long-term deal with the three-time All Star, who has become the franchise cornerstone over the years.

Longoria had a season to forget in 2012 due to hamstring injury that cost him over half the season. Fortunately though, he underwent a minor operation last week and is expected to be 100% healthy for spring training.

I think it was a great move for the Rays he is a class act,not too many left around these days.I just hope they have enough $$ to keep Keppinger and sign a decent catcher and centerfielder.
